Timeless elegance

Established in 2008 by Joanna Maria Ruda, Jo Kaminska Ethical Jewellery is renowned for top quality gemsotnes, elegant original designs, brilliant detailed craftsmanship and full customization services. Joanna Maria believes in beauty, which can transform us, our mood and the world around us. By combining top quality gemstones with fine metals the designer creates one-off exquisite pieces of art. Uniqueness and top quality are at the heart of every JK design. “We work only with top quality gemstones and pearls. Then you don’t need to disguise them. They speak the story of their individual beauty by themselves."

The name of the brand is a tribute to two very important women in Joanna Maria’s life – her mother and grandmother – both very creative and strong women. The brand is a tribute to a personal story, to our ancestors and to strong and elegant women. All JK pieces are crafted in precious metals and use ethically sourced gemstones and conflict and devastation free diamonds, all personally selected by the designer.

Jo Kaminska Ethical Jewelry is also making a statement about giving back. A percentage of proceeds from annual sales is donated every year to the Jo Kaminska Foundation educational programmes. “This way we give something back to the communities we have been working with since the beginning of the JK brand. We believe that Education can transform human lives and the world thus our continuous efforts to invest in educational programmes.”

The Jo Kaminska Ethical Jewellery is available at retailers in the UK, the USA, Russia, Spain, Poland and Sri Lanka.

How did it all start?

Jo Kaminska Ethical Jewellery was created with the conviction that fair trade is the only way forward. This realisation came naturally during the designer’s first visit Brazil in 2005. Rather than buying stones from one of the many shops in Ouro Preto in Minas Gerais, one of the most important regions for stones mining in Brazil, Joanna Maria decided to go on an adventure and buy them straight from the source. What she saw then confirmed the conviction that wealth should be shared, people’s labour should be paid appropriately and that the chain of production and supply should be transparent.

The stones, pearls and materials used in Jo Kaminska’s designs are personally selected by the designer. Thanks to her thorough education in the gemmology field, completed at the best gemological laboratory in the world Gemmological Institute of America (GIA) in London and Bangkok, as well as her linguistic skills, she travels to distant places such as Brazil, Sri Lanka, Burma and Vietnam to personally select materials used for the designs.

Manufacturing

Each piece is handmade by the designer, or crafted in close collaboration with traditional artisans and goldsmiths using only precious metals.
